Reading Time: 2 minutes

What I didn’t realize when I decided to stay is that he was sabotaging any progress made.

I thought we were working together. Now – I believe that he was cheating the whole time. Lying to me, entertaining my attempts at communication, placating me with small tokens of affection while still doing his own thing.

Everything came to a head in May 2025.

It’s hard to describe when you get a feeling of something going on. But that’s what it really was, a feeling. He went to the grocery store twice in the same week and didn’t ask me if I wanted anything. For me, that was odd..because that rarely happened. It was so small..minute, but it triggered this feeling in me. Me, trying to address things when I feel them instead of waiting until it festers, told him how I felt. Specifically, I said “It feels like when you cheated before”. Naturally, that caused a huge argument as nearly all my previous attempts to talk to him did.

Backstory – In March 2025, I started going to the gym. Over the last year, I had put on weight. It felt like it came on rapidly. I’ve had Hyperthyroidism (Graves Disease) since 2020 and it had been a battle with my weight since then due to the medication. But this time, I was determined to try to work on my health. My husband was an avid gym goer for years and on one day in May 2025, I decided to go mid day instead of waiting until the end of the day. That’s when everything blew up.

When I got to the gym, I saw him working out in the corner. I went on to the treadmill and mentally decided, I’d catch up with him when I left. When I finished, he was gone. I was calling him, back to back, and no answer. Then I left the gym and started to walk home.

I didn’t even make it out of the shopping center before I saw him at a cafe nearby with a woman. On the surface it looked innocent, but that gut feeling I had a few weeks earlier came to the surface and told me to believe what I’m seeing for what I think it is.
